alex + kate | short story | tasmania

It’s with a heavy heart we admit that prior to this wedding, neither of us had ever been to Tasmania before. Though it was high on the to-do list, we’d never made the time to venture across the bass straight to experience her serene beauty. And it is beautiful.

We always meet with our couples to find out about their story, and their wedding – we think building that connection is vital to us delivering a great film. Alex and Kate work across the road from each other (literally) so we met for lunch at Merchant in Melbourne. We chatted about all manner of things; their background, why they wanted a wedding film, and the reasoning behind Tasmania.

Kate’s a Tassie girl see, and with the stunning St David’s Cathedral, the family home providing the setting, and the beauty of Tasmania as the backdrop, it was a bit of a no brainer.

Alex and his groomsmen got ready at the amazing Lenna Penthouses, which overlook the Hobart harbor. A few beers, some lunch, and a bow-tie tutorial video later, we were off to Kate’s place.

Kate got ready at the family home, which was also the location for the marquee reception. Capturing John’s first look at his daughter was a reminder not only of the importance of what we do, but also the privilege of being invited into someone’s lives to create a wonderful film.

A traditional service at St David’s followed, before heading across to the park for a quick location shoot.

We’re privileged to work with some of our industry’s best suppliers and Georgeous once again did an amazing job creating a fabulous Marquee space. With the Veuve flowing freely, some great speeches, fantastic food and Mr Nick Rutherford on the decks, it was a very memorable occasion.

The pleasure was all ours.

mark + ash | short story | yarra valley

Mark and Ash are a truly wonderful couple, whom exude warmth and beauty – both inside and out. We were so happy to be apart of their day.

Jared went to school with the groom’s sister, and was only too happy to capture the day for the family. When we met with Ash, we knew she was going to be a stunning bride – and she did not disappoint, wearing a beautiful gown from Anna Campbell.

Mark is such a genuine person; you can just feel it when you’re in his presence – so it was a wonderful moment as Ash started to walk down the aisle and Mark began to tear up. It doesn’t matter how many weddings we shoot, you still get caught up in that emotion.

Heart-felt vows exchanged at the stunning Killara Estate and we were off for a quick location shoot. The light was incredible, and we managed to pop off some fantastic shots, as we were led via 4WD through vineyards and private property. Led by talented lensman Damian Vincenzi, he even made it into a tree to ensure he got the best shot.

We retuned for the couples bridal waltz, shared some words, captured some dancing and left as the photo booth was starting to run hot.

one lovely day

The Style Co. team believes Wedding Styling is about storytelling. It’s about being lucky enough to meet beautiful couples who share their stories with them. It’s about going on a journies together, taking their story, safely holding it in their hands and letting their magic abound it. It’s all about the end result of this journey; and for Sandra & Alfie’s, that was breathlessness.
