sarah + damien | extended short | melbourne

When Sarah (co-owner of styling juggernaut, The Style Co.) asked us to capture her and Dam’s wedding, we felt a twang of trepidation. There was self implied pressure for us to deliver the goods.

And not because of her job, but because Sarah + Dam are our friends – and like with all our couples, we wanted to do justice to their day, and their story.

They met 27 years ago in primary school, and were friends before they were lovers. The universe had different plans it seems, but when the time was right, a love blossomed. As Sarah say’s in her speech, its a love that takes her for who she is, and loves her into someone better.

Thematically, we played on the idea of the coloured smoke that was featured in their stationary and event decor, and wove this through their film, from the pre-wedding shoot, to our request for a smoke machine for the dance floor – it was about making everything work in concert.

We loved the nod to tradition, but with a sense of them doing it their own way. The first look juxtaposed with a church wedding, for example. Above all, it was super important to Sarah and Dam that everyone had a great time.

After all, life’s too short to have boring parties.

Lock it in. You are it!

carolyn + craig | extended short | moama

The further we go on this journey, the more we realise there’s so much more to what we do than just capturing a wedding day – it’s about human connection.

It’s about looking beyond the superficial and delving deeper.

We got to spend an amazing few days with Carolyn and Craig on their property in Moama, and we immediately felt at home. Craig took us up in his plane (there’s a runway on the property!), Carolyn showed us the horses, and we shared meals in their kitchen.

It was incredible to connect on a deeper level and then capture their wedding day for them. It made it all the more rewarding for us. And hopefully for them too.

But this wasn’t just a normal wedding day, given their love of throwing parties, Carolyn and Craig decided it was a good excuse to also celebrate their 50th + 60th Birthdays!

Good food, good wine, good people. The way all parties should be!

sarah + rabb | extended short | uluwatu

Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia.

Khayangan Estate.

Sarah + Rabb.

An amazing setting for an equally amazing couple.

We were immediately struck by how genuine and friendly Sarah + Rabb were, how they welcomed us into their wedding festivities with open arms, and how they trusted us to tell their story.

Perched high on the clifftops of Uluwatu, the stage was set for a beautiful ceremony, and the look on Rabb’s face as Sarah descended the stairs was something we won’t soon forget – a truly inspiring moment to witness.

Shooting with our good friend Tara Pearce of Erin + Tara, we made the most of the beautiful afternoon light and were able to watch the sun dip below the horizon as the cocktails flowed.

Poor Rabb copped quite a ribbing during the speeches, which provided plenty of laughs for everyone. He also organised a beautiful surprise tribute to Sarah’s late mother, with the release of 100 white balloons in her memory.

As the dance floor picked up, the heavens started to open. But this didn’t deter anyone! The shirts came off, the chairs went up, and the party carried on!

Day 2 saw a recovery party ease hangovers. It was a more relaxed affair, with swimming, music, and satay. It was a great way to unwind and spend more time with guests that had travelled far and wide to celebrate with Sarah + Rabb.
